"I am attaching a short orientation show to use with my students as a basic introduction to the library. They loved the program because they found Sully engaging. Hopefully, it explains a little about the different areas."
I opted to create a “wiki” to evaluate our 8th grade genetics lesson based of the Schlecty format we have been working on for the past year and a half. On 3/28/2007 my students took their genetics assessment and when they were finished (those who finished in time) came to my computer and navigated thought the “wiki” to choose which page best suited them post the genetics lessons. I had them click on the discussion page and then on my thread and add to my thread telling me why they felt like the page they chose to describe themselves. I even gave the website to a colleague to see if her students wanted to fill out the survey under her own thread. I look forward to using this tool more often next year when I have more time to introduce it at the beginning of the year.
"The students and I set up a pod casts to welcome the new kindergarten students and parents next year. The class chose background music. Each student chose a topic he/she wanted to discuss. I have just audio this year, but plan on having students from next year’s class draw pictures to accompany the audio. The outline is attached."
Example of Engagement Measure/Gathering Student Feedback:
"I created a survey in Wikispace in which my students voted on their favorite project of the year. They posted their responses in the Discussion tab. Some students posted their responses in a reply to my instructions. My students wanted to know more about the wiki and showed a great deal of curiosity. Unfortunately, we are about out of time for this year. I really hope to create more wikis over the summer and introduce it much earlier in the year."
Here is the work created by the March 30-31 WIN Group (to see wikis, click on names):
